Nicollet County Courthouse Addition

St. Peter, MN

The addition to the Nicollet County Courthouse takes its cue in materials, detail and scale from the adjacent historic building, while carefully distinguishing itself as a contemporary structure.

On the third floor, courts functions are visually connected to floors below through an open lobby and are accommodated in space constructed in 1880, 1977 and 2002.  A complete reconfiguration of the original courthouse provided space for Guardian Ad Litem and Probation, both functions that do not require a secure passageway to courts. In the newer portions of the complex existing court administration space was modified and expanded to provide private, secure access to a remodeled courtroom and a new courtroom and chambers beyond.
