Historic Courthouse

Milaca, MN

Construction was completed in 2012 on a renovation/restoration of Mille Lacs County’s 22,700 square foot Historic Courthouse in Milaca.  After the relocation of the courts facility to a new addition, the original building was modified to accommodate administration and land records departments on the upper two floors and conference rooms and tenant spaces in the basement.  Of particular importance on this project was the integration of new mechanical, electrical and life safety systems into a solid, difficult-to-modify structure in a way that is sensitive to the original historic character.  To that end, original light fixtures were removed, restored and re-installed in their original locations.
