Olivia Public Library
Olivia, MN
A challenge in the design of the Olivia Public Library Addition and Remodeling was the need to construct around and integrate into the overall design a small 1960’s vintage library. Re-clad with new brick, the original library space accommodates staff and service functions. Because of the tight site dictated that the parking be placed behind, a central lobby with entrances on both sides allows patrons access inside before actually entering the library space. Located off of the lobby, public toilets and a meeting room can be accessed after library hours.
Mechanical and electrical systems were updated for energy efficiency and the entire facility was made handicapped accessible.
