Having designed earlier renovations to the existing Nobles County Library, VJA was asked in 2010 to study the building's ability to be expanded to support a proposed building program of approximately 32,000 square feet.  After a detailed analysis of building systems, available space and parking requirements, it was determined that expansion at the existing site could not accommodate long-term needs.

As a result, the team assisted county officials in developing a comprehensive list of criteria against which a variety of alternative sites could be evaluated.  After a preliminary analysis of 15 sites, four were selected for more rigorous scrutiny.  Preliminary site concepts similar to that shown here were prepared and associated costs were determined for four sites.
